extremely remote and harsh conditions - makes setup and operations more difficult - costs more.
destruction of habitat - The environmentalists will fight every step of the way while driving their cars to work every day like the rest of us.What are the negatives to drilling for oil in Alaska?
*Transportation is a problem - Alaska is a big state and it's tough to get around a lot of it. Pipelines and oil docks are expensive to build and maintain.
*Weather variability - expensive to operate a platform and the small town that goes with it in places where the cold kills.
*The eco-system is fragile. I'm sorry but drilling is a messy business and places like Alaska take a long time to recover from even simple mistakes.
*Isolation - Not a lot of people are cut out for the living conditions. What are the negatives to drilling for oil in Alaska?
There are no negatives! Studies have shown that drilling oil in places like Alaska has no negative effects on the living enviorment around it and can even help smaller animals. People say we are in Iraq for oil, then, why are oil prices going up? I say we drill for oil in Alaska, using our own reasources. Besides in the near future we are going to have alternative energy sources anyway that don't use oil, or less of it. Come on, those liberal tree huggers say you can kill a baby in the mothers womb, but don't you dare harm that tree in Alaska! Give me a break.
You lose money. It's more expensive!
