Do you think Oil Drilling in the ANWR (Alaskan something wildlife refuge) should continue?

Why do you think the alaskans voted to continue oil drilling. We had presentations for our projects about this in Current Event class, but no one gave me the answer. I asked he teacher he just said it benefits them wih jobs and material possesions that could prove to be useful, but whats the real reason, and how does it not affect wildlife?Do you think Oil Drilling in the ANWR (Alaskan something wildlife refuge) should continue?
it doesn't really hurt the wildlife unless there is an oilspill.............................but i think we should do it because the prices are high and we are running out and the less gasoline we have the more the cast of gas will be ................so i think we should drill in alaska.............................will u please check put my questions thank uDo you think Oil Drilling in the ANWR (Alaskan something wildlife refuge) should continue?
I would agree that it would help us sustain our lifestyles now...but we need to start thinking out into the future. It is time that our country and the world start looking for more viable alternatives for fuel.





The Alaskan's voted to continue oil drilling so there is money available for their yearly check they get by being a citizen of Alaska. It is all about the money (course can't say I would think differant if I was getting the money as well).





And if you saw the Valdez oil spill- yeah it does affect the animals. It may not be the drilling, or the pipeline- it could be a ship loaded with oil running aground.





I personally am not against oil drilling, I just think that we need to start looking at some other options a bit more seriously.
Continue? It hasn't started. Not in ANWR anyway.
Material possession are JUST the start of the breakdown of ANY culture.





The more crap people own, the more they become selfish, as well as self-absorbed.





Also, the powers that be(such as Big Oil) will portray such an act as positive(yes, for them), and the return back to the community will be neglible. Your teacher stated it right:';could prove';, but this is not the same as ';will prove';, anymore than healthy ';looking'; hair equates to healthy hair.





Here in California, there was Prop 87, which was shot down by the voters. It was actually going to be funds set aside by the oil company to research alternative energy, yet the commericals and ad's(paid by CHEVRON, EXXONMOBIL) portrayed it as useless, and with no immediate benefit since it will serve the greater good, and not a few major shareholders whose sole purpose in life is getting their snouts deeper and deeper in the cash barrel(a function of insecurity)





Whenever things don't seem to clear...follow the $$$ trail. Todays world is short on substance or conviction, so NEVER think there is a difference between a gangster in a 3-piece suit versus the gangster on the street. One just dress'es nicer.
This will actually benefit the local ecology and it's wildlife-------and make us all less dependent of foreign oil.
I think it's very important for the drilling to continue in ANWR. I also think we should start drilling more off our shores and to continue the research to convert coal to petroleum.
