Is this going to change your mind about the republicans faillure on energy policy? Is president Bush's oil drilling proposal too little, too late?
No, it is the right timing to give Mc-Same a pushIs president Bush's oil drilling proposal too little, too late?
Too little but should be done anyway. The U.S. oil production has been cut 22% since 1980. Return that 22% to production, drill the continental shelves, and invest in alternate fuels.
We need short term answers too!
The liberals are behind the congressional rejection of drilling in the 'banned' areas (where Japan is currently extracting oil), the closing of refineries, and prohibition in building nuclear power plants.
Too little. It takes 20 years to start getting oil from offshore drilling. In the meantime, lowering the mpg of cars by 1 will yield 100 times the oil right away.
Of course the true Patriotic way is to panic and do something horribly tragic without any thought about the consequences. So let's drill!
It's funny. His 2001 energy bill was sunk by Democrats in the Senate.
Maybe if they had passed it, we'd have new domestic oil supplies flowing right now, as well as several nuclear plants under construction.
Maybe if Clinton had not vetoed drilling in ANWR, we'd have that oil.
Yes, it's too little, too late, but don't blame Bush. Blame those who stopped the expansion of domestic supplies of energy.
Besides which, stop thinking in such short terms. What we do today will have results in 8 - 15 years. My guess is that energy will be even more in demand then. Let's deal with that problem now and start getting supply online.
Rather it be a little late than not at all. China is out there drilling.
We can't have immeadiate relief, there is no such thing, unless 120,000,000 change their habbits. Drilling off the coast of Florida is essential to us, the American people.
It may be 5 years before relief, but we've been waiting over 30 years for it.
No. However, it has taken a g.d. crisis that affects everyone, libs too, to put the dems on defense. If it werent for libs, the oil would aready be being produced here. But like I said, thanks to the crisis, sucking every dollar you have out of your hind end, the dems are against the wall on denying ramping this up.
Excuses can be made about everything, but every day they delay getting it done, is another day we are hostage. Does anyone think the prices will level off or decrease by the time we get a drip or two?
Yes, I do believe Mr. Bush has been trying to get this done his entire presidency.
China is just going to angle drill and suck it all out.... scr*w them!
Well, if Congress wouldn't have stopped everything he tried to do, we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now.

and I鈥檓 not sure about the universe.'; -Albert Einstein
It will never be too late. The world will not end if we do not do more drilling for oil. Mr. Bush has recommended that Congress open up all of the US territories where oil is in reserve. He cannot do anymore than that.
It's too late to save us from $8 a gallon gas but not too late to save us from total collapse if the Middle East has a major melt down. We need to start immediately. The Democrats in Congress are insane.
Lol everything Bush does or tries is a total failure. I just chalk this up to yet another of his blunders.
it is way too little way too late.
NO it is not, Again like 9-11 Bush is the one leading the charge go man go
Just depends on what resolution the democrats come up with.
What is their plan to reduce our gas prices? More gas tax?
not for the next generation
Its never too late to try. Beside what would your alternatoive plan be?
heck naw!! better late than never.
didn't bush TRY to drill but all the crazy wackos wouldn't let him.
what proposal? To drill in nature reserves? And how is that going to help our current situation?
It will take 2 - 3 years to survey and run soil tests on where to drill, then another 1 - 2 years to drill. Once that oil comes out of the ground, it has to be processed into a usable form - where? You can drill 100 wells, but it doesn't matter if you don't build more processing plants - and that is the problem. He should be asking his buddies at Exxon and Chevron and Shell to be building processing plants instead of ruining national parks with oil tankers and well pads.
His proposal is an exercise in futility.
HMMM. I think =)
