Just one of many Liberal aspects of McCain's policies that trouble me as a true Conservative. We are truly between Iraq (a rock) and a hard place when it comes to who to vote for this election. If it wasn't because of Iraq, I would stay home on election day altogether... That's the only thing McCain has going for him in my view.
Edit: Ian, since you sent me an email on the subject, I assume your chickenhawk comment is directed to me as well. As a 23 year AF retiree, I wouldn't hesitate to go if I could be of use. But I'm a bit past my prime at this point. I at least have a ';clue.'; You might want to get one too.Why is Senator McCain against oil drilling in the Alaskan Arctic?
Even though it has enough oil to TOTALLY divorce us from importing oil for 6 entire months (think about that trade deficit effect) McCain has evidently decided to pick his battles as they say. I've about given up on ANWR drilling, it may not be worth the fight any more with global warming being the rage now. Interestingly, the thawing of Arctic ice is actually going to open up the area OFFSHORE of ANWR to oil exploration, so maybe we can tap that resource anyway! Why is Senator McCain against oil drilling in the Alaskan Arctic?
Because it is not the solution to the real problem. ANWR holds about 4 billion barrels of oil. U.S. uses 25 million a day. That's less than 6 months worth of oil, assuming we used it exclusively. The solution to the real problem of conserving finite oil resources is not to use more oil, which is what happens if its cheap and readily available.
All liberal environmentalists are against it, even though it will help our country and be only a minute part of Alaska that we would drill.
And McCain is part of that liberal leaning crowd of pansies.
Drilling for oil in alaska wont help anything.
But what kinda of sick twisted freak would vote for mccain based on being for the iraq war? why dont you go fight you chickenhawk.
