Arctic drilling technology used for oil exploration?

Can anyone tell me anything about technology being developed to drill in the arctic? I am not looking for a debate on whether it's right or wrong, I just need information for a report I'm doing on technology. Thanks for your help.Arctic drilling technology used for oil exploration?
Well i hate to bust the technology bubble but the process has not changed in 50 years ...Oh the exploration business has gotten better the rigs larger and the degree of accuracy better but all in all its about 5 or 6 guys per crew 24 hours a day in till the driller says seal the hole or ';here she comes';..In the Arctic special considerations are made for personnel protection and of course the machinery is all heated (water lines) and the drill mud has antifreeze in it .Since the invention of the carbide roller rock bit the permafrost is no match for the pressure applied from the drill platform fact getting through that layer is a piece of cake its the deeper rock just above the dome that sometimes is a real problem . Breakdowns with high friction mud pumps and fishing for lost tools and a thousand other little problems are the plague of the tool pusher.. The men all live on site and are gone from home 6-8 weeks at a time they live in trailers well within the whine of the diesel power supplies and get very little time off and family life is just a dream for most . they are mostly tough individual who have tried to make it other ways but just can't find more adventure and get paid for it too....There ya go...From the E
