Does Pelosi's change about drilling for oil prove that the Republicans were right?

In her party's weekly radio address, Pelosi said opening portions of the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling would be a part of energy legislation that House Democrats intend to put forward in the coming weeks to address oil dependence and high gasoline prices.

Is this an admission that the Republicans were right all along?

She's there, she will remain the Speaker for some time, and if we slam her for flip flopping, she'll think twice before doing it next time.

As long as she's going to be there, I'd just as soon she take our positions, much like Clinton when he locked Reich and Hillary in the closet after the '94 elections and let Rubin run his economic policies.

As Gerry Callahan says, as long as she flips our way, let's welcome the flip with open arms.

Our message should be:

Madam Speaker, thank you for reconsidering offshore drilling, it is a pleasure to see that you had the guts to think about your position before going with the knee-jerk reaction of some of your more extreme colleagues, now let's work together to increase production of domestic transportation fuel.Does Pelosi's change about drilling for oil prove that the Republicans were right?
For the Democrat party to stay with the status quo and oppose domestic oil drilling, will result in many of them not being re-elected to the congress. Speaker Pelosi, realising that her position as the house speaker could be in jeopardy, has had to bend in favor of what the public are demanding. Renewable energy is not yet ';on the table'; as the United States has little, or no infastructure in place at this time.
Every wonder why Pelosi has been so against allowing discussion about Oil drilling?

would you call this a conflict of interest?

FOX NEWS revealed (Weds 8/12) that Nancy Pe'lousy' - Speaker of the House of Representatives owns stock in Clean Energy Fuels Corporation. At the end of 2007 she reported $250,000 in stock growth/profits ( Clean Energy is owned by T. Boone Pickens, Texas Billionaire).
Yes it does. President Bush wanted to open up offshore drilling and ANWR during his first term, which was blocked by the senate in 2002. If these areas were opened up in when Bush pushed for it, production would be only a few years away rather than a decade away. Good work.
No, she changed her public position so more Democrats will be elected and then, with a large enough majority, they can block drilling the during next administration. She doesn't understand the energy situation at all.
No her statements are a ploy to follow public opinion which is overwhelmingly for offshore drilling (right or wrong) so that Democrats do not get so badly beaten in the election!

yes. insofar as she claims to have blocked legislation to do so because of her devotion to the environment.

this proves she's all about votes.
Nasty Nancy is in a knock down, drag out fight foe her congressional seat with Cindy Sheehan the anti war activist that has sworn to put here on the street. She will make any promise to hold on to her seat in this battle.
They know there's no other short term viable recourse, the magic bullet hasn't made it's debut yet.
Almost as much as bushes changing his mind on global warming is proof that gore was right all along. Why haven't you changed your mind yet?
Nancy Pelosi is a stupid liberal, what do you expect? Flippity floppity!
YES, pelosi is an idiot from sodom on the sea.
Nope.
