Don't you just love those naive people who say we ';have an addiction to oil'; as if it is a bad thing?





I think we should give up our addiction to hollywood, our addiction to football, baseball, and especially the thugs playing in the NBA. What about our addiction to abortion, let's give that up. And how about our addiction to welfare, let's cut that out. What about our addiction to the cell phone, there is evidence it hurts our brains. And the addiction to teenage unwed pregnancy has to go not to mention the addiction to homosexuality.

Why would OPEC have to have our best interest in mind? Do our companies routinely consider the best interest of foreign nations?








The major cause of the rising prices is not OPEC supply, its the fast growing demand due to new consumers in China and India. Do you think OPEC is in charge of the population growth and economic power of the two most populous nations on Earth?

Reminds me of something I heard a while back. GHW Bush supposedly signed the first ban in part due to Saudi complaints. As the House of Saud is close to the House of Bush, they were supposedly unhappy with plans for US drilling. The Saudis supposedly felt they were doing their part and having the price drop due to US drilling was unfair. If that's the case, screw 'em. Since they asked us to get out of Saudi Arabia, we owe them zilch.
OPEC doesn't care whether we drill. If resources and attention are devoted to drilling for oil rather than to alternative energy development, OPEC will be quite happy.
Wrong.





They love the fact that America is continuing its addiction to oil instead of trying to kick the habit.
Who told you, Are you on drugs ? They would be more than happy if you become independent, They won't have to suffer American tyranny.
I doubt OPEC gives a ratsbehind what the general public thinks. They will do and say as they wish.


Period.
Of course they are! No longer being dependent on them puts them in a very bad spot.
If you could give some evidence backing that up at all that would be nice.
