Why wouldn't US oil drilling ease the price of fuel?

It is funny how the rest of the entire world is busy building power plants, refineries and drilling for oil and we are convincing ourselves that all we need is sunshine and hot air.Why wouldn't US oil drilling ease the price of fuel?
There is lots and lots of oil drilling going on in the US. The number of active rigs has increased, the number of wrokover rigs has increased, there has been over 10,000 new drilling permits issued in the last 5 years, there have been an increase of 300% in the number of drilling permits on federal land issued. That being said any and all oil drilled in the US does not only go to the US. Of the 4 major oil companies in the world (Shell, Mobil, BP, and Exxon), only 2 of these are US companies. Oil and oil futures are sold and traded on an international scale and therefore the price is set internationally. It has been stated by several economists that if you took all of the 10 billion barrels in ANWR and the 18 billion barrels along the US coastline and dumped that 28 billion barrels into the oil market all at once, it would lower the price of gas here in the US by a mere 6 cents per gallon. Why wouldn't US oil drilling ease the price of fuel?
Because the oil producers have to increase refinement in order to have an effect on the price of fuel at the pump, considering you can't put crude in your gas tank. The thing is, oil producers have decreased oil refinement. So if they aren't refining the oil they already have any faster, what good would more raw crude do? It's really NOT rocket science. Saudi drillers increased their production rates to no end, while Exxon-Mobile has decreased production of, and dismantled current refineries to hold back finished product supply with demand higher than ever considering for our part, it's summer in the US. The old supply and demand equation still holds true. There's your sign....
Yeah I know. There's actually more Shale oil here than Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Iraq, and Kuwait- COMBINED yet some still think that we don't have that much. Oh, and that doesn't include ANWR, the coasts, The new deposit they found in ND or the Massive natural gas deposits. Natural Gas has REALLY gone up.

I often hear the 'it'll take several years to get it up and going' argument, ok whatever. At least it'll keep the prices from going higher. The anwr thing could started producing in 2006, and it would have really helped now.

Also, a lot of the time problem is imposed by the government. pelosi had a chance about a week ago to fix this problem, but she was so afraid of the earth firsters that she just didn't vote on it so she wouldn't make them or the amercan people mad.

We also have to start building more refineries. There are areas of the country that are just desolate- Western KS, N Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska... We could build quite a few of them and people would get used to them.
For the same reason that drilling for oil in my backyard wouldn't ease the price: there's not that much there.

If there was, the oil companies would have gone after it long ago, like they've done in Texas and Louisiana. The idea that there's tons of oil we aren't using is just a tacky election year gimmick.
We don't have the refinery capacity, storage facilities and it would take several years just to get the infrastructure built first.

The oil companies are enjoying huge profits and have no reason build them.

The environmentalists would oppose the construction and the environmental impact paper work would increase the time it takes because of all the site inspections and tests required would add extra costs to the construction and if that site failed, they would have to find another site and start all over.
Yes. OF COURSE.

But Democrats in Congress have Banned Drilling.

Why???? Because the Democrat Party get Millions of Dollars each Election, from Environmentalist Organizations, for getting Gas Prices Higher.

ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL.

It ALWAYS leads to the Democrat Party.

Cool!!!!
Because we are not getting 100 percent of our oil from foreign sources. In fact, most of our oil is coming from The U.S, and believe it or not, Canada. So even if we drill we have no guarantee to find enough oil to make us independent from other foreign oil resources--and that's why the price won't go down--
It would drop the price of oil if the futures markets were to see that the problem of lacking supply were being addressed. By preventing drilling the democrats hold the price high causing pain to Americans while pretending to be the solution.
For the same reason, you won't give me half of your best and most expensive jewelry-you think?
it would ease the price but libs dont wanna
We just need to do it and find out.
