If you mean crude oil, that's simple. Oil companies prefer cruse oil because it's easier to catalyze into other forms. With crude oil, you can make diesel, plastic, natural gas, grease, engine oil, avaitaion fuel, ten or twelve different car fuels, and even make butane out of it.
Sweet oil can only be catalyzed into automotive gas.
