I hear you loud and clear. The democrats in Congress don鈥檛 want to pollute the ocean鈥檚 but are willing to let CHINA do it. I can see them out there cracking jokes about the stupid American government being overthrown without a shot being fired.What's with America not drilling for oil off the coast of Florida while China taps it?!?
That's not what's going on. The best thing to do would be to lift the embargo on Cuba so that US companies could participate.
Some facts for you.
The country drilling is Cuba. They've contracted it out to China. US companies were invited to bid, but were told they couldn't by the Republicans.
They're drilling in Cuban waters, which are so designated by a formal agreement by the US and Cuba.
The idea that they are ';slant drilling'; into US territory is a fantasy of some right wing extremists. Neither China nor Cuba would want a confrontation over that, and they don't need to do it.
Drilling will only cause prices to go down about a nickel over the next decade at the best. It's not going to have huge longterm effects except on the environment. Even if the US drilled all over the country we'd only have 2-3% of the needed national supply. We can't depend on oil. We have to find alternative sources of energy.
They are Lazy. That they don't want to do it.
