demsThe dems continue to oppose oil drilling and gas prices keep going up. So,will you dems still vote for dems?
I don't know why people believe the sludge that the current administration and the oil companies are spewing. Supply is NOT the problem. The oil companies are sitting on 10 million acres or oil land leases but have not started drilling. Yhey are sitting on it and driving the prices up. Let them start working on the land they have and not send the resources overseas. Once they start what then maybe the government should consider additional sources.The dems continue to oppose oil drilling and gas prices keep going up. So,will you dems still vote for dems?
Really. The problem doesn't spawn just from a need for more oil. The amount that would be produced from the remaining 43 million allowable acres would barely, impact the price of oil, if at all. There are too many variables. Speculation of the price of oil futures, the inpending situation with iran, and their possible quasi embargo, and increased demand from the US, and Other developing countries like china. The reluctance of Saudi Arabia to do much in terms of aiding other economies. Abu Dabi is seeing un precidented economic growth. The average Salary for a college grad in Abu Dabi is estimated to around 180,000 US dollars. Not to mention, personal self interests of oil companies. They've actually placed a ';choke'; on oil production which allows them to throw certain high prices into the market because they can claim that they operate at full capacity. A real appeal to the economic problems would to first begin with closing the speculation loop left over from the enron situation, place caps on futures speculations, invest in more fuel efficent cars, invest in alternative fuel, and maybe even define a committee to place a cap on what american oil producers can charge the american public. (of course this would require some serious amendments to certain statutes)
But even McCain said it himself...the only tangible, measurable positive effect would be psychological...which means he's assuming that speculators dont' know how to do their job, and would simply relax. Unfortunately, that's not the case, and that wouldn't happen. I'm sorry. It's not a good Idea, there are simply too many variables to be considered, and I don't think there's too much thought behind this conclusion.
I'm an independent, but this is only a small fraction of why the Maverick McCain isn't going to get my vote.
Yes, I will.
Don't you think it's very convenient that GWB, who, like his father, is an oil man, would lift the ban for drilling offshore a few months before he leaves office?
Ponder that for a minute.
So, are you asking, ';will you sell your vote in exchange for gasoline prices at $3 a gallon, in about 10 years?';
Uh, no.
Yes because we are smart enough to know that MORE DRILLING WILL NOT LOWER GAS PRICES!!! As a Republican you should be ashamed expecting the government to solve all your problems for you.
