McCain says that he supports the ban being lifted to drill for oil offshore. Below is a link to the article. Do you think McCain is going in the right direction with this?

its hard to say what the cause and effect of that could be. you have to remember that we sell oil to other nations. also if we open up full tap our oil and dont think about the future then what. its all well and good to open our supply but we need to equally think about an alternative and nobody seems to see that. so what if we open our oil our government would prob sell it to make a profit and we the people will still be in the mess we are.Do you think McCain has the right idea about oil drilling?
Offshore drilling is fine with me, but there is still plenty of onshore oil going untapped in Oklahoma, Texas, Nevada, California and numerous other areas that are protected by special govenment interests. It is easier to drill for and pump oil on land than it is under water. It is also safer and more ecologically sensitive.
Of course its the correct thing to do. The US needs to pursue an energy policy that solves our near term problems as well as addresses the future.
Just removing the restraints placed by the Democrats over the years will begin to drive the price of oil down as the potential of an additional 100 billion barrels (oil, shale and sands) hits the market.
It's insane, we currently borrow from Saudi Arabia to buy oil from Saudi Arabia, thanks Democrats! :)
The energy crisis and the Dems head in the sand policy will cost them the election. Obama wants to *increase* taxes?? What a dolt! :)
Drill the oil wherever it can be found..China is drilling closer then we are allowed to drill..just remember that the environment is only good if there are people left to enjoy it..
if China and Europe don't care how they get the oil why should we be the weak sister of the world..don't tie our hands with stupid socialistic nonsense
I'm all for drilling/refining our own oil to make us less dependent on other countries. I am also all for drilling in Alaska, too. The article doesn't give specifics as to where or how far out, I, like everyone, don't want it close enough that we can see it from the coast.
Absolutely, it's at least a start. We need to do much and we need to start now...Obamas agruement that we won't see the results for several years is lame, we need to start now so that at least we will see results in a few years.
Absolutely! He hasn't gone far enough though, but it's coming. We have 80 years worth of oil here in America. That should give us plenty of time to develop other sources and get off of Arab oil. If the Dems. had listened to Bush 8 years ago, we wouldn't be in this mess!
Yes. China is actually drilling off of our coast. Why should we sit back on our butts and let them extract resources near us.
Let's face it, we can strive to go green but we need a nearer term solution which is more supply.

McCain has a good idea, we could have cheaper oil from this for sure.
The Iraqis have cheap Gas already while we have expensive Gas
No but he's doing what his boyfriend Bush wants him to do. McBush at his finest exposing himself as the fraud he truly is. Who can serriously believe everything this guy says I will never figure out.
No, it will take years before it has any affect on our gas prices and it will be minimal at best.
We need to reduce our dependance on oil.
Yes
yes, we need to stop depending on other countries
