Why are most republicans so hard headed about oil drilling?

They are whining to anyone that will listen...that congress is stopping oil drilling in protected areas.....the fact is that oil companys are sitting on thousands of oil reserves NOW... and will not pump them!...i have one that has been drilled and oil was hit....it was then promptly cappedWhy are most republicans so hard headed about oil drilling?
Sexual frustration perhaps?Why are most republicans so hard headed about oil drilling?
The price of oil is a complicated process but it comes down to this: why would you expect the oil companies to increase production just to lower the price of the vary product they're selling? Do you think they're insane?

They want permission to drill in protected areas so they can have a supply against the day they really need it. Right now everything is working out perfectly for them. They're making top dollar on all they produce. It simply makes no sense for them to spend more money and reduce their profits.
That is not true, there is little to no oil production in the US because of Democratic legislation that prohibits drilling and the building of more refineries. We could be oil independent with in the next 2 years if we were allowed to manufacture oil and it's by products rather then depend on other countries.
What's funny too, is that both California and Florida have state laws limiting offshore drilling, and the Republicans, who are usually so adamant about protecting states' rights, seem to think the Federal government should override the states and drill anyway. I guess when a state wants to protect its own backyard from greedy oil companies, it has no ';rights.';
Well listen to Lindsey Williams in regards to our oil drilling in Alaska and most people would agree. Also it's a whole misconception of oil drilling. Plus do you think we should suffer now because our bozos in clown can't find decent ways of alternative energy. Anyway I support the free-market more to finds alternative energy ways.
The hard headed-ness you refer to is realism. The only thing that is going to help us is to drill for more oil. Alternative energy is great and someday it may work but that day is not monday when we all have to go back to work or next week or next year. I don't know why they capped your well but I can guarantee you that if they could profitably pump $160 barrels of oil out of it, they would.
Whatever!! Oil companies are sitting on a crap load of oil, the companies in the middle east, you know the ones we are at war with because they harbor, protect, support, and encourage all the terrorist groups that hate us and our country, yeah they have the oil and because you liberal tree hugging facists won't let us drill in OUR backyards because ';its so beautiful'; we are paying out our A$$ for oil!!! Thanks Liberal Bitc***!!!
What it comes down to is how accessible those fields are, and how much oil they contain.

If it costs 200 dollars a barrel for something that can only be sold for 150 dollars, nobody's going to be drilling.

The stuff in Alaska is likely cheaper to drill.
Geeeeeeee... And I guess it's NOT the Democrats who won't let us increase the size of the refineries or construct new ones? What good is crude if we can't refine?

Don't blame the Repubs... Look in your backyard, hon.
It has nothing to do with being republican or democrat, its the damn tree huggers.
where are you hiding? It is exactly the Republicans who are pushing for off shore drilling.......smell the damn coffee.
You have what? An oil reserve in your backyard?

You lying Liberals are getting to be too much.
They're trying to stay ';on message.';
GREED!
