it takes oil to power our air force and navy. since the liberals have america depending on oil supplies from places other than america would be enough reason to make it a secruity problem in that as iran stated they could block the hormuz strait and pull 20% or more of the world supply off the market. that could be a dangerous situation. i asked a question about states with oil in the ground if they had the right to drill and build refineries and power plants even if it meant going against the federal government. i believe that they do and that they should. mr doodlesShould domestic drilling for oil become a National Security Priority?
Yes. It should have started years ago. Our politicians lack of foresight is responsible for many of our ills now. The base closings that were a serious mistake from the concept stage have resulted in our military being stretched to the limit just taking on Afghanistan and Iraq.We were warned back in the 60's about the future(now) oil crisis.We should have been not only drilling to achieve energy independence then, but we should have had a government mandate to explore and develop other sources of energy.
Yes. We need to decrease our dependence on other countries. This will also go a long way to helping our economy become stronger.





I know that we need to keep looking for other resources, but what no one has yet to see is that these other resources are too expensive. I cannot afford to buy a hybrid as they are much more expensive than a regular car of the name. When the hydrogen, solar, electric or water cars get perfected, these will also be too expensive for the average person to own.





Drilling for our own oil is the only thing we can do that will actually help those of us who struggle to make ends meet.
YES. Not only national security, but if we don't start drilling now, it could cause an economic collapse, greater than the Great Depression. Oil is tied to ALL aspects of our economy. You are already hearing whispers of our Auto Industry and Airline Industries are going bankrupt. If these industries go under, it will SHUT down our economy!
Drilling, refining, alternative energy, anything that employs Americans, cheapens the price, takes the upside speculators out of the market, and on and on and on.


Anybody who thinks it is safer to allow the Red Chinese to drill in the Gulf of Mexico rather than American Oil Companies does not know what they are talking about.
First, drilling within American boundaries is not a security question.. has nothing to do with national security. second, even if you allowed our oil companies to harvest more oil through more off-shore drilling, it wouldn't help the american consumer. the oil companies would continue to gouge you just as they have been doing, and socking the money away in their tremendous bank accounts. anybody who thinks that allowing more drilling would convince the oil companies to lower their prices is naive.
Absolutely, we are at the mercy of many countries who are not very fond of us. They could completely cut us off causing economic chaos in America. It would equate to an attack on par with 9/11.


The Middle Eastern countries are also unstable with all the differing Muslim factions who wish to destroy the other Muslim factions, so aggression amongst themselves could also have serious impact on America's well being.
I'll give a reluctant ';yes';. So long as everyone in favor of drilling knows it's neither an immediate, or permanent solution.
No - I think developing other energy sources is. But it won't happen because big oil keeps funding the politicians.
