to those of you who don't understand yes the oil companies do have the mineral rights to the oil in this country but they cannot drill without the approval of the government so lets get a reality check here if you have to blame someone then look no further than the congress and senate (dem side that is) just check your facts.


Now to answer the question the only one i can think of in the last thirty years is the Exxon Valdez in puget sound some twenty odd years ago so if i take your question rite what you are saying is that oil spills is a lame excuse to prevent drilling and i agree. just look at the oil platforms off the coast of louisiana before during and after hurricane katrina not a drop of oil was spilled. its a fact the US has the best safety record in the world when it comes to the extraction handling shipping and refinning of oil.Name all the oil spills from drilling compared to the transportation of oil, Then ask why we dont drill?
Well, we want to let China and Cuba have first shot at drilling offshore around these parts. You know, China has such grand environmental concerns....it just makes good democratic sense to let the third world come drill our oil. Drill away..you still have to transport it. As you astutely pointed out, the spills occur with transport to or from the refineries, which are rarely located near where the oil is located.
Oil companies have held the right to dill in the Golf and else ware and choose not to do so. DO NOT let “them” make you think they need spots to drill when in fact; they are not using the resources they have available to them.
Dude, please. Does the oil just ';magic'; its way to a refinery from the oil well? It is ';transported';. The two kinda go hand in hand Jeez.
