Where would America get its energy supplies from then? What would the U S do if Canadian politicians prevented people from drilling for oil in Canada the same way?
We should be thankful that Canadian politicians aren't as stupid as their American colleaguesWhat would the U S do if Canadian politicians prevented people from drilling for oil in Canada the same way?
Actually they do.. there is a pile of oil and gas in certain national and Provencal parks, (like Dinosaur National park) which are off limits. Luckily there is a bunch of oil in accessible tar shale which doesn't lay in protected lands.
Right now, Canada has a lot of oil and it is economically viable to extract it (tar shale extraction is an expensive process and if not done efficiently has a net loss). That wasn't the case 20 years ago, and it probably won't be the case in another 20 years.
America would just have to do what they have always done, supplement their supply for the middle east at top dollar.
Me personally, I would kiss the Canadian political leader, And find some other energy! like wind, solar, water, etc, Shove the oil back to the big oil company, and watch them drown in it! We all have to come together and fight for New ways to make our own energy.
I have to admit, I never thought of it that way. That's a good question, but I don't know the answer. I believe the push is going to be for alternative energy.
The oil market is worldwide, but losing one source would continue to aggravate the costs. As for the US doing anything, I doubt anything like that would ever happen.
They'd have a cow and wouldnt understand the similarities between that policy and their own which is a horrible policy
Since Canada is the number one exporter of oil and gas to the US we would have even higher prices and more of a supply problem.
The same thing the U.S. does now, gets its oil from other countries...
The middle east, south America etc. It just wouldn't help to alleviate prices, but what is helping... nothing at the moment.
US would probably invade, isn't it obvious?
