Maybe --also the under sea sonic booms'''Could the recent global spate of earthquakes be due to drilling for oil in the Atlantic or Indian oceans?
or it could be the tectonic plates...............Could the recent global spate of earthquakes be due to drilling for oil in the Atlantic or Indian oceans?
no.
No there is not
Oil and gas drilling can do all kinds of nasty things but causing earthquakes is not one of them
Difficult to see the mechanism. Oil prospecting drilling is at most a couple of Km deep in the crust. Earthquakes which are the result of sudden catastrophic slippage between techtonic plates occur typically 30-50 Km deep. Human activity such as drilling, dams etc only cause minor superficial local 'quakes %26lt; 4 on R-Scale.
The most likely explanation is that 'quakes cause further 'quakes and you get a period of continuous seismic activity around the particular fault zone.
in a simple answer......no,it is probably to do with tectonic plates moving and the world doing its thing
Highly unlikely.
I think that the Earth is tired of being mistreated by us...She is getting upset and nervous.
